Ever the innovators, igus has introduced a bearing for its drylin W linear system that allows engineers to replace the liner in less than 30 seconds. In this week’s video we find out how to achieve this.
When changing the liner on a conventional linear guide rail, the entire linear slide has to be pushed off the rail. For linear guides, linear axes, multi-axis portals and delta robots, this requires high maintenance effort and long machine downtime. The drylin W Exchange bearing changes this, by enabling liner replacement directly on the rail.
This simple, yet clever, three-step process saves engineers time and money, while maximising machine uptime. Once the side cover is remove using a screwdriver, all is required is a practical assembly tool for pushing the old liner out of the housing, clip the new one onto the shaft and push it into the housing for a flush fit.
A huge time and cost saving bonus is that engineers can retrofit the drylin W exchange bearing to all existing drylin W systems with shaft sizes 10, 16 and 20 mm. In addition, the replacement liner is made of the highly wear- and abrasion-resistant iglidur J200 tribopolymer material for longer service life. Finally, for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance schedules, isense
