A two year £4.0m investment programme is progressing well at Vetchberry Steels, the coil processing division of ThysenKrupp Materials (U K) Ltd., a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp AG.

The ground work is now complete for a new 1850 mm wide coil slitting line, with the custom built components ready for installation.

Adrian Palmer, Operations Manager for the business explains: “The new line, built by Georg in Germany and the UK, is capable of delivering considerable improvements to process in terms of speed, accuracy and product quality, consistently from day one of operation”.

Widely expected to be the most efficient slitting line in the UK for stainless steel and aluminium coil production, it will yield significant benefits for ThyssenKrupp’s existing customers and increased capacity to develop new markets, cementing Vetchberry’s position as the UK’s premier service centre for stainless steel and aluminium.

Billy Kingsbury, Divisional Director in charge of the business: “We are the bridge between the metal producer and an increasingly demanding consumer, and preserving material quality whilst transforming it to fill a customer need is no longer enough – the real value is added when the material is actually improved
with the process, and this world class line from Georg now enables us to do just that. Our customers are in for a pleasant surprise in the coming months!”
