The latest technology means that devices are getting smaller every day.  So the latest Spring technology has had to follow suit.  Lee Spring responded by bringing its smallest Bantam ™ mini compression springs into the company’s now 20,000 strong catalogue range.  Samples can be seen at MEDTEC UK this year on stand 1413.

Bantam™ mini compression springs are a unique line of miniature springs available in wire diameters of .0040”, 0.0045”, 0.0040” and 0.0055” with external diameters of 0.0025”, 0.040” and 0.057”.  Available in a range of lengths from 0.005” to 0.0625”.  In order to maximise the performance of a diverse range of applications, notably for the Medical industry, Lee Spring chose ‘Elgiloy’ as the alloy most suitable for these springs.

Egiloy is a Nickel-Cobalt alloy known for its durability.  It is 10% stronger than type 316 Stainless steel.  It demonstrates a greater resistance to corrosive environments including lactic acid, ammonium chloride, citric acid, sodium chloride and sodium sulphate.  This material performs well in temperatures up to 850°F and is non magnetic.

Bantam mini compression springs are used in many applications in diverse industries such as

  • Medical Devices
  • Pharmaceutical delivery devices
  • Petro-chemical processes
  • Aerospace
  • Marine industry
  • Security and locking devices
  • Firearms
  • Electronic and illuminations controls
  • Communication devices
  • Precision instruments
  • Automotive
