A single nut hub design from SKF is being used on the Ferrari 458 Challenge sports car, a racing version of the Ferrari 458 Italia that is powered by a 4400cc GDI V8 engine. According to the company, the central, single nut clamping design on the wheel connection side allows an easier tyre change for Ferrari 458 Challenge drivers, which can save valuable time during a pit stop.

Furthermore, the solution has also been proven to withstand the tough tracks that the Ferrari 458 Challenge has to tackle, which place an intense mechanical stress on the bearings, with lateral accelerations reaching 1.8G.

The vehicle made its debut at Monza during the opening round of this season’s Italian and European Trofeo Pirelli Challenge and showed improvements on the timesheets.
