Phoenix Marine Solutions has selected dc motors from Astrosyn International Technology to power garage doors for cars carried on superyachts. For this application, the company needed electric motors that would be quiet, reliable and economical.
The motors were custom designed by Astrosyn to provide the quiet operation befitting the standards of luxury expected on superyachts, and are also rugged enough to operate in a marine environment.
They are being used to drive hydraulic power packs, which also operate the yachts’ trim tabs, fold out balconies, autopilots and hydraulic steering, as well as trimming sales and raising anchors.
