A young triathlete with dreams of participating in the Olympics has received a huge boost to his quest in the form of an aerodynamic carbon fibre Boardman bike – the AiR 9.2 provided by KW Special Projects (KWSP) and Boardman Bikes. This is the latest endeavour by KWSP to support up and coming local talent.

Reuben Trotter, 14 and currently at Warwick School, races for Banbury-based Team Cherwell Triathlon Club and was inspired to take up the sport after seeing the Brownlee brothers power to victory live in Hyde Park during the London Olympics. Since then he has gone from strength to strength and is now competing against the best that other clubs have to offer. His performance has noticeably improved again since the loan of his new bike. The week after he received the Boardman bike he shaved 90 seconds off his previous time over a 10 mile time trial.

“I’ve always been a strong runner and swimmer, but this year for the first time my cycling has become the strongest element in my triathlons and this must be as a result of my new Boardman bike,” said Reuben.

Kieron Salter, managing director of KWSP added: “As a high performance engineering company that has worked with leading names in motorsport and high performance sport engineering, it was natural for us to take an interest in a local athlete who is showing huge potential. We’ve been delighted to have helped to make a difference to Reuben’s performance with the support and kind generosity of Boardman with whom we are also working with on some exciting projects soon to be announced.

“We wish Reuben the very best of luck as he continues to compete and we’ll be following his career closely. We look forward to seeing him take an Olympic podium in the future, knowing that we had a part in his success.”

Reuben has already produced a string of podium finishes this year with a third, two seconds and a first respectively. Next year it is hoped that he will compete in the highly competitive Youth Elite Series and his first Adult Triathlons (Super Sprint Distance).
