JOST Group used the platform of the IAA show to launch its new Ultra range of Edbro cylinders. The Ultra range slims down two of the brand’s most popular cylinders, the CS17 and CS18, increasing payload without compromising on tipping speed or capacity. Designed primarily for European legislation regarding 44-50 tonne vehicles, the new cylinders can offer weight savings of up to 29kg.
Held biannually, the IAA show is the world’s leading trade fair for the transport and logistics industries. It presents an opportunity for visitors to see the latest technologies and speak to industry experts about the latest legislation and regulations. During the show JOST Group launched a new range of Edbro cylinders in weight reduction for 44-50t tonne tipping vehicles, an essential consideration in an age of ever increasing running costs for operators.
Commenting on the new range Peter Smith, International sales director, said: “The Edbro motto is ‘Lighter, Faster, Stronger’. Our CS17 and CS18 cylinders have led in all three categories since they were first launched. Recently it’s come to our attention that competitors are trying to reduce the weight of their cylinders by decreasing the diameters. We refuse to compromise on the safety of our products so set the challenge to our engineers to reduce the weight of our cylinders without losing the >50% safety factor of full load at full tip that has always been maintained. Thanks to design tweaks, new materials and upgraded manufacturing techniques they delivered – like they always do.”
Both eye ended and outer cover designs of the cylinders are available within the Ultra range with weight savings reaching up to 100kg against comparable cylinders.
Thanks to continuous investment in R&D and production facilities, the Ultra range has already been subjected to rigorous testing – both in-house and on the road – and is ready for manufacturing. JOST has started delivery of some designs already, and the full range of CS17 and CS18 cylinders will be available to customers by early 2015.
