International industrial electric motor maker Regal is holding a customer training day at its Wellingborough motor centre on 6th May.

Regal UK (which incorporates Rotor UK and RBC UK Ltd) is increasingly recognised as the foremost supplier of electric motors in Great Britain.

“If you are involved with electric motors in any way, a degree of technical knowledge will help you do your job to the best of your ability,” explains Lucie Hodkova, one of Regal UK’s senior executives. “At Regal we deal with a wide range of people from highly qualified and experienced engineers to those who do not have the same technical expertise but who still interact with motors or motor driven machines. So what we like to do is ask potential attendees to our training days what they would like the presentations to cover and then develop a bespoke agenda for each audience.”

Thus Regal training days usual include some basic training sessions, covering the fundamentals of motor theory, for instance how to size and select them and special requirements for particular industries. Lucie again says: “We find that our non-technical delegates see them as an opportunity to learn in a relaxed and friendly environment, while engineers and specialists appreciate them as refreshers and possibly giving insight into industries other than their own.”

The day is also likely to include sessions on subjects such as new legislation, safety and energy efficiency. This year, for instance, there is likely to be interest in the new Energy Related Products Directive. Naturally, Regal is always keen to receive suggestions for other topics beforehand, too.

There will also be demonstrations of the motor sizing and selection software Regal has developed to help customers identify the best motors for their particular needs, tours of the facilities and a chance to meet every member of staff.

The early summer date was chosen because the improving weather makes travelling a bit easier and Lucie says she always try to make the training days fun and engaging, because this the most conducive atmosphere for learning.
