New longer point level probes from ifm electronic
Not so long ago ifm electronic launched the groundbreaking LMT point level sensor which has been a big hit ever since, so now that there are new versions even more users can benefit from the LMT’s ability to ignore tricky deposits and even foam.
While the first three versions of the LMT were short probes designed for minimal intrusion, the new LMT units will reach further into a vesse1 to detect levels of all media, from liquid and viscous fluids to bulk materials.
Greater reach means probes that are 153 mm or 253 mm long, increasing installation options through insulated sidewalls, or at an angle.
New versions with ¾” or 1” threads, 28mm and 38mm long respectively, have also been added to the range.
With the latest IO-Link technology built-in, the LMT can also be simply adjusted to virtually any medium. Each of the two switching outputs can be set independently of each other so it is also possible to differentiate between two different media. The parameters can be set with IO-Link and USB interface accessory E30396.
With no moving parts and a smooth surface (the surface characteristics of the PEEK tip of the sensor is Ra < 0.8 µ) it is virtually impossible for residues to stick to it or clog the sensor. Even with viscous and sticky media such as ketchup the LMT point level sensor operates reliably.
Using high quality materials such as 316L stainless steel and PEEK the sensor meets all requirements of hygienic areas. Flush sealing is ensured by pressing the PEEK tip onto the sealing edge of the adapter. This avoids dead bands and contamination. Approvals such as EHEDG and 3A certify food conformity.
The LMT operates on a DC supply of 18 to 36V and with its IP rating up to 69K and ambient temperature range covering 25 degrees below freezing up to 80 degrees it is ideally suited to food environments. The connection uses an industry-standard M12 connector to take the PNP signals back to the panel.
