Whether to choose high precision and top running behaviour or compromise on accuracy for the sake of freely combinable carriages and guide rails, was the decision every machine tool designer used to face when it came to selecting linear guides to construct linear axles.

Now, however, NSK has introduced the PH linear guides, which allow carriages and rails of the same size to be freely combined – previously, this high accuracy was only possible through paired systems. As a result, it will be easier to produce machines and to replace precision linear guides during servicing.

The new PH class is available with various different guide carriage types in sizes 15 to 45. All of the designs run much smoother and offer significantly better guaranteed precision than the existing PC class, which already offers very good performance, claims the company. The new linear guides are suitable for applications that require very quiet running, and are also rigid enough to be used for demanding applications.
