Switches, sensors and enclosures specialist, Bernstein Ltd, will be demonstrating a range of industrial workplace safety products on stand H67 at Northern Manufacturing.

The products are all designed to help protect machine operators against hazards posed by industrial apparatus and use a variety of contactless technologies including magnetic and RFID.

A highlight of this years’ stand will be a working demonstration showing how Bernstein’s safety light curtains use multi-beam light barriers to safeguard access points without the use of physical barriers.

Light beams invisible to the naked eye are used to detect the presence of unwelcome items in the protected area triggering the machine to automatically shut down if necessary.

Managing Director, Rob Emms, says, “Machine operators are only human and even the most safety conscious workers can sometimes find themselves in potentially harmful situations. Our safety curtains are able to detect a finger at 14mm, a hand at 30mm and a body at 70mm – this makes them highly effective at preventing accidents in the workplace.

“We can also provide versions with pre-programmed blanked areas suitable for use in applications which may include fixed items within the protected zone.”

Bernstein’s award winning contactless Safety Monitoring Switch, CSMS, will also be on show, alongside safety interlocking and hinge switches, as well as Bernstein Control Enclosures.

Rob continues, “We exhibited at last years’ Northern show and it proved extremely successful. Trade shows offer excellent opportunities to showcase the capabilities of our products and we always include a number of interactive demonstrations on our stand so visitors can see the technology used in action.”
