The development of HiPer-tex high performance glass fibre from 3B has enabled Von Roll to extend its armouring products range, introducing PARA-LITE PHT20 phenolic prepreg for hard armouring applications.
According to Von Roll, the material has resulted in weight reductions and affordability for its new certified composites stand-alone and hybrid STANAG 4569 ballistics solutions that defeat a range of ammunitions from small arms to high calibres such as Amour Piercing bullets. Hard Armour ballistics protections are known to protect against bullets, IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and EFP (Explosively Former Projectiles) while bringing structure in naval ships, planes and vehicles.
Not only are HiPer-tex high performance fibres suited to these applications, but other industry segments will be able to benefit where weight reduction and higher performance is demanded.
