Fibre optic cables suit military use

Mar 6, 2012 | Springs & shock absorbers

IRphotonics has introduced the HE Series Infrared Fiber Optic Cables, which are designed to meet the most stringent specifications required by military and industrial applications.

According to the company, the hermetically sealed, Fiber in Metal Tube cables can house and shield its Mid Infrared Fibers (iGuide) against physical and environmental conditions, including shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, pressure, and liquid immersion. Cable assemblies are available in a variety of lengths and feature a flexible squarelock conduit. An optional PVDF lining is available for enhanced protection from liquids.

Applications include Infrared Counter Measure Systems (IRCM) that use Indium Fluoride fibers or remote spectroscopy applications for harsh industrial environments.
