Huntsman Advanced Materials is introducing an infusion epoxy system with thermal-cycle resistance for producing durable high temperature moulds that far exceeds requirements for molding 180°C class aerospace prepregs.
This two component epoxy system offers a low viscosity and long pot-life which makes it suitable for use in infusion processes such as VARTM or SCRIMP.
RenLam LY 180 / Ren HY 180 is said to be suited to the production of high temperature tools on low-cost master models. Parts can be demoulded following pre-curing at temperatures as low as 30°C, without risk of breakage or distortion. Composites laminates produced with RenLam LY 180 / Ren HY 180 can achieve a heat deflection temperature in excess of 185°C following an appropriate post-cure.
