DEVELOP3D Live conference has announced a line-up of keynote speakers from renowned design, engineering and technology companies. 34 speakers will address over 1,200 delegates covering everything from America’s Cup yacht design to spaceplane propulsion and ruby-slipper inspired GPS shoes at the one day conference which takes place at Warwick University on 26th March.

Top UK designers and engineers will share their expertise and stories with attendees and include:

Dominic Wilcox is well-known for stretching the industry boundaries and using ordinary objects to create something new. He created the world’s first ‘GPS shoe’ that guides the user to any destination they want, anywhere in the world. He has also created a suitcase with robotic legs that follows the owner via a locator transmitter, a driverless stain glass car and a xylophone bin.

Andy Claughton from Ben Ainslie Racing is one of the most accomplished designers for the British America’s Cup team. As technical director, Andy will share his stories about coordinating the team of engineers as they design the prototypes and final boats for the 35th America’s Cup.

Richard Varvill from Reaction Engines will speak about the company’s research into space propulsion systems and the development of the Skylon SSTO spaceplane as well as the hypersonic speed A2 passenger plane.

Mark Sanders is described as ‘the designer’s designer’. He is the principal of product design and engineering consultancy, MAS-Design, and the developer of the award-winning triangular folding bike ‘Strida’.

Scott Schiller who is the head of HP’s 3D printing division will be announcing the development of their new and extremely quick multi-jet fusion 3D printers in an industry exclusive.

“DEVELOP3D Live is an opportunity for world renowned UK design and engineering talent to get together to share the latest trends,” said Mark Sanders. “We are able to see the relevance of various skills within the whole creative process, from invention through to advanced manufacture; some of UK’s most valuable and future assets. It is the most interesting event in the design and engineering calendar.”

“DEVELOP3D Live showcases everything from automotive and aerospace to industrial design,” said Martyn Day, publisher at X3Dmedia and DEVELOP3D Live organiser. “It not only celebrates the best in British design, but is the only event where the heads of CAD companies gather and present their competing visions of the technology will further enhance our ability to realise designs.”
