A conformal coating is being added as standard to Control Techniques’ Commander SK AC drive range. The coating will enhance protection, when the drive is installed in an appropriate enclosure for the environment (IP54 or better), giving extra protection against moisture, dust and chemical ingress as well as temperature extremes.
Drives protected with the coating will be beneficial for demanding industrial environments, including in the textile, woodworking and water industries.
The compact Commander SK range spans 0.25 to 132kW and has been designed to provide simple, cost effective AC motor speed control. Installation and commissioning are said to be straightforward as all parameters needed for 90% of applications are printed on the front. Their onboard PLC feature removes the need for an external PLC and power supplies; and integrated fieldbus options minimise the need for external I/O to interface with the drive.
Coating of the drives will start with the smaller sizes (to 7.5kW) in September and be extending across the whole range by October this year.
