Cathy Donoghue, Operations Manager at Variohm Eurosensor, has achieved the IoD qualification Diploma in Company Direction.

The purpose of the Diploma in Company Direction is to equip directors with an array of skills and the knowledge and understanding to be able to successfully direct an organisation from a strategic perspective. The course was very focused and was composed of a three day interactive residential where Cathy and other delegates acted as board members, they experienced situations and issues usually faced by an organisations board. The course participants were required to apply their knowledge and skills to overcome the issues and situations faced. They also received feedback on their individual impact and performance in their role.

The main objectives of the course were to understand a board’s role, gain knowledge of important topics, gain the ability to evaluate and improve the performance of a board. Having also passed the three hour exam, Cathy is now fully qualified in the Diploma in Company Direction. This qualification recognises the professionalism and experience of directors.

Cathy says “it’s the best training I’ve ever done, it was really practical but really challenging!”

Here, at Variohm, Cathy is one of the many members of staff completing qualifications and other training. Many of our team have completed NVQ’s – level one and two, we currently have two members of the team working through apprenticeships and are in the process of finding a third. We also support staff in degrees, certificates, diplomas and masters. We believe in giving our team members the best set of skills to enable them work to their full potential and to progress within the company where appropriate.
