The BMZ Group is converting its production to accelerate its focus on Li-ion batteries for a wide variety of medical applications. Customers producing ventilators, in particular, have asked the company for its solidarity and support. In some cases, the volume of inquiries has risen by 50%.
Regarding the current situation, founder and CEO Sven Bauer comments: “We are all going through an unplanned stress test at the moment. Each of us is affected by the coronavirus, and we can see its consequences everywhere we look. We have all taken precautionary measures, and we discuss the situation in a daily Skype call, while gathering information first-hand from our international subsidiaries. For us, health protection is paramount. That is why we didn’t hesitate for a moment when we received a distressed call from manufacturers of urgently needed ventilators. We are in the fortunate situation of having access to an extensive inventory, allowing us to increase the number of batteries we produce for use in medical technology. BMZ immediately assembled a team to ramp up production. We’re not leaving anyone behind!”
Bauer is in touch with his workforce as often as possible. The exchange of information helps create a basis of trust. BMZ is working actively to help fight the coronavirus, and relies on insight. The company addresses individual employee needs and concerns when making its decisions. Personnel who have recently vacationed to a risk area are required to stay at home as a precaution, even if they are not showing any symptoms. Employees are allowed to bring their children to the office. This helps them make up for lost childcare options – the BMZ Group needs each and every one of its employees to meet the high demand the company is facing, in particular for urgently needed ventilators.
