In just one week’s time, the BLOODHOUND Supersonic car will make its 200mph debut at Cornwall Airport Newquay. Driver Andy Green will make two passes along the runway, using an EJ200 jet engine to power the car to 200mph in c. 9 seconds.
The trials on the 26th October mark the culmination of a month of tests to prove the Car’s steering, brakes, suspension, data systems and other functions, as well as the integration of the EJ200 jet engine, sourced from a Eurofighter Typhoon. The tests have also provided Andy Green with his first opportunity to drive the Car, and allowed the BLOODHOUND Team to develop the Car’s operating procedures, prove and refine the safety protocols, and practice radio communications.
